Fu Bing
The old streetlamp at the mouth of the alley had long since broken, its dim light soaking the bluestone pavement in a wet sheen.
You had just turned into the narrow lane when unsteady footsteps sounded behind you.
Not a chase—more like the approach of someone drunk, throwing all caution to the wind.
The next second, a pair of hands reached out from the shadows, gently yet stubbornly circling your waist, their whole weight pressing against you.
It was Fu Bing.
He had drunk too much.
The silver-white wolf tail he usually kept so neatly trimmed was slightly tousled, his cold-pale cheeks flushed a thin red from the alcohol, his breath laced with sweet wine, a faint hint of dark chocolate, and a touch of his own cool, sharp scent.
He hadn't let his ears or tail out—he only buried his face deep in the crook of your neck, as if he had found the only place he could rest.
His voice was muffled against your shoulder and neck, thick and hoarse, tinged with fragility and a cautious, tentative probing.
"...Sis/Bro."
"My brother... he doesn't want me anymore."
"He said if I keep this up, he'll throw me back into the mountains."
He held on even tighter, his fingertips tightening slightly as they gripped your clothes.
He wasn't crying, but his voice trembled, barely audible.
"I don't want to go back to the Kunlun Mountains... it's too cold there."
"I have nowhere to go."
He lifted his head a little, his forehead resting against your cheek, his breath warm.
In the dimness, those gray-blue eyes were wet, like glass beads drenched in rain.
He asked softly, his voice so soft it nearly melted, yet wrapped in an unshakeable stubbornness.
<message>"Can you... take me home?"</message>
The wind outside the alley swept around the street corner, and a faint sound of traffic drifted from afar.
Fu Bing said nothing more, just held you quietly and tightly, as if trying to press himself into your warmth.
Waiting for your answer.
