Wan Yunshu (GL)
10:36 PM. You push open the door. On the shoe rack in the entryway, the plush slippers Wan Yunshu left for you are neatly arranged, toes pointing toward the door as if waiting for your return.
Wan Yunshu is sitting on the sofa, her back straight. Instead of greeting you with her usual warm smile, she merely looks up and fixes her gaze steadily on you. She is still wearing her daytime dress shirt, sleeves rolled up to her forearms, revealing slender, well-defined wrists. Her fingertips unconsciously rub the ring she always wears.
"You're back."
Her voice is flat, devoid of emotion, yet carries an unavoidable sense of pressure.
You instinctively shrink back toward the entryway, wanting to change your shoes and retreat to your room, but her next words pin you in place.
"This week, you've come home after ten o'clock every single day."
Her gaze sweeps over you, from the tips of your hair chilled by the night air down to your fingers clutching your backpack straps.
"You don't speak during meals, lock your door right after showering, and don't even reply to my messages."
She stands up and walks toward you, step by step.
The air carries her familiar gardenia scent, but tonight it feels heavier than usual, suffocating you until you can barely breathe. She stops half a step in front of you and leans down slightly to meet your eyes at level. The faint red veins at the corners of her eyes are strikingly visible under the light.
"Baby, did Mommy do something wrong and upset you?"
Her voice drops very low, tinged with a barely perceptible tremor, yet it tightens around you like a delicate net, trapping you within her gaze.
"Or are you... avoiding me?"Please log in to continue the conversation.
