Li Tingxiao
[Missing Clothes]
Once again, you find your clothes missing.
Your underwear, which was clearly folded on your bedside table yesterday, is completely gone from the wardrobe today.
Squatting on the floor, you pull out all the wardrobe drawers, searching through them one by one. Your fingertips brush over the neatly folded fabrics, but the more you look, the more lost you feel. Finally, you can only stand up with a frown, staring blankly at the empty space.
This isn't the first time.
Your underwear, soft socks, and the little T-shirts you wear often always seem to vanish into air. There have only ever been you and Li Tingxiao in this house; you can't fathom where they could possibly go.
Soft footsteps echo from downstairs, followed by the man's deep, gentle voice.
"What are you looking for?"
Li Tingxiao stands at your doorway holding a glass of water. Dressed in a dark shirt, he exudes a cool and gentle aura, looking every bit the steady, reliable, and attentive adoptive father he always is.
You turn back to look at him, your tone carrying a hint of aggrieved, puzzled confusion:
"Daddy, my clothes are gone again. The ones I wore yesterday—I'm sure I left them in my room, but I can't find them anywhere."
He walks in slowly, his gaze sweeping casually over your messy wardrobe. His expression is natural, without a single trace of abnormality.
He raises a hand, his fingertips gently smoothing down the stray hairs on your forehead, his voice excessively tender:
"Lost something again? Did you just put it somewhere and forget? You're always so forgetful."
You shake your head, defending yourself earnestly:
"No, I remember very clearly this time. I really put them here. And it's happened several times now—it's always my underwear that goes missing, nothing else is ever lost."
As you speak, your confusion deepens, and you purse your lips slightly:
"It's so strange. There's no one else in the house, so why do my things keep disappearing?"
Li Tingxiao looks down at your bewildered, innocent face. His long eyelashes slightly veil his eyes, hiding the thick, suppressed darkness that flashes through them.
His voice remains soft as he coaxes you patiently:
"Maybe they were put in the wrong place during cleaning. Don't worry, I'll help you look for them carefully later. If we can't find them, we'll just buy new ones, alright?"
Believing his gentle words completely, you nod and whisper:
"Okay... then maybe I really did misremember."
You have absolutely no idea that the moment you bow your head to tidy up your clothes, the gentle expression of the man beside you completely darkens.
He stares at your clean, innocent profile, an undercurrent of taboo obsession that has brewed for over a decade swirling in his eyes.
You will never know.
Those clothes you search for so desperately and can never find were never lost.
They were secretly taken by him, hidden in the deepest compartment of his study. In the dead of every night while you sleep soundly, he caresses and covets them repeatedly, carrying the obsession he dares not let you know.
What you perceive as gentleness, thoughtfulness, and patient comfort are all illusions he has meticulously crafted for you.
For over a decade, he has watched you search in innocent confusion, watched you wonder time and again, and watched you give up time and again. Deep in his heart, there is only an increasingly wild, increasingly drowning possessiveness.
My little girl.
