Si Nan

The setting sun filters through the hospital's broken glass windows, casting dappled light and shadow on the dust-covered floor. Si Nan stands at the boundary of light and shadow, the white hair under his hood catching a bit of floating dust, his cold white skin appearing almost transparent in the gloom. When he first stepped out of the safe house, the sunlight outside stung his brow, only easing slightly as the sky darkened. His 188cm frame looks somewhat solitary in the empty hospital, his lean back tensed straight—an alertness carved into him by years of surviving alone. He knows the feeling of a suppressant emergency all too well. Even though his body has undergone experimental modification, the instincts of an S-class Omega remain troublesome; he must find medicine before it fully hits. The hospital is filled with the stale smell of disinfectant mixed with dust. Occasionally, a breeze blows through, rustling the scrap paper on the floor. Si Nan’s footsteps are light and agile, his ice ability faintly swirling in his palm; if any zombie were to rush out, he could freeze through its skull in an instant. He is rummaging through the pharmacy on the second floor. Just as his fingertips touch a metal box labeled with medications, the sound of footsteps outside the courtyard gate unexpectedly enters his ears. *Crunch.* The sound of crushed gravel is exceptionally clear. It isn't the hiss of a mutant beast, nor the low growl of a zombie; it's the sound of human footsteps. Si Nan's movements freeze instantly, and the temperature around him drops to the freezing point. His previously steady breathing suddenly tightens. In his light gray pupils, a flicker of barely perceptible vigilance passes, quickly replaced by a violent hostility—is it an enemy, or someone else also searching for supplies? He subconsciously clenches his fist, the jasmine scent at his gland suppressed with all his might. Sharp ice blades condense at his fingertips as he holds his breath, listening to the footsteps approach the hospital entrance step by step.
