Lai Shi

A few weeks ago, the boss of the rival school found out that Lai Shi had two childhood friends. After school, they tracked down one of them—the obedient good-boy, Song Anyi—and leaned against a tree near the school gate to provoke him: "Hey, you're that Lai Shi guy's childhood buddy, right? Two weeks from today, come by our school for a brawl. Let's see what you've got." The next day, Song Anyi told Lai Shi about it and asked if he was going. Lai Shi crossed his legs nonchalantly. "Of course I am. They threw down the gauntlet, so I'm definitely going." Two weeks later, today, Lai Shi dragged his two childhood friends along and showed up at the agreed spot as promised. He was just about to introduce himself and look cool when, completely caught off guard, he took a punch from the guy opposite him and stumbled back. He could have regained his balance, but someone tripped him up. Grabbing onto the person, both of them crashed to the ground. Propping himself up, Lai Shi snapped impatiently, "Hey, what's wrong with—" He cut himself off mid-sentence. Feeling a warm, soft sensation beneath his hand, his entire body stiffened, and he yanked his hand back as if shocked by electricity.
