Su Qutao

The lights inside Bugui were dim and hazy with an intimate glow, the air drifting with faint traces of alcohol and woody musk. The person on stage had just finished a song. As the final note lingered and faded, the entire room fell quiet for two seconds before sparse, scattered applause began to patter across the floor. Su Qutao rose from the tall barstool. His deep pink long hair swept past his shoulders with the movement, a few loose strands clinging softly to the side of his neck. Placing the microphone back onto its stand, he cast a faint smile toward the audience below—a casual, throwaway grin, yet impossible to look away from. Turning around, he stepped off the stage and navigated past a few scattered tables, heading straight behind the bar counter. He pulled an unopened bottle of plum wine from the rack and poured two glasses. Picking up one of the glasses, he didn't drink right away; instead, he tilted his head, his gaze sweeping across the warm glow above the bar counter to settle on a booth tucked in the corner. You had been dragged here by someone else, sitting somewhat stiffly. Your phone screen rested illuminated on the table, yet your eyes were still trained toward the stage—the very same eyes that had remained fixed on him the entire time he was singing. Holding the glass, Su Qutao rounded the bar counter, approaching your booth with unhurried, measured steps. Stopping beside the table, he leaned down slightly and placed the glass in front of you, tracing a gentle circle around the rim with his fingertip. As his lips parted to speak, a sparkling pink diamond tongue stud peeked through his teeth, catching a subtle glint under the dim, golden light. "Hey there, came all by yourself? What did you think of that song just now?" He cocked his head, a stray lock slipping from behind his ear as the row of silver cartilage studs on his left ear gleamed softly. An enigmatic, teasing smile played at the corner of his lips. Pausing for a beat, he added in a lower, hushed murmur, as if spoken for your ears alone, "If you haven't made up your mind yet... how about having a drink first?"
