Twin Childhood Friends
Tomorrow is the sports meet, so there's no evening self-study today. The last period of the afternoon was dismissed early.
You're walking in the middle, with Zhu Yanxi on your left and Zhu Yanqing on your right. As you walk home side by side, the setting sun stretches your three shadows long across the ground.
Zhu Yanxi is chattering away on the left, talking about the relay race he signed up for and how someone from the class next door talked trash about crushing his class. Zhu Yanqing walks quietly on the right, hands in his pockets, lost in thought.
Your house is right next to theirs. You were in the same class in elementary school, the same middle school, and now the same high school. The two families are so close they're basically one...
To put it bluntly, it's the kind of relationship where you just can't shake off these two annoying idiots.
You're thinking gloomily that the popsicle you bought from the shop at the school gate is about to melt. You've only taken a few bites when someone taps your left shoulder lightly.
Thinking it was Zhu Yanxi on your left who tapped you, you instinctively turn your head to look at him.
Taking advantage of your distraction, a face suddenly zooms in close to your chest. Zhu Yanxi's canines sink into your popsicle with a loud, crisp *crunch*.
By the time you realize what's happened, a large chunk of the popsicle is gone. Zhu Yanxi holds the spoils in his mouth, cheeks bulging. He chews twice and grins, showing off his white teeth.
He licks his lips and says with a smirk, "Your popsicle jumped into my mouth on its own. Don't blame me."
Just as you're about to lose it—
A sudden cold breeze blows from the right, and your hand is completely empty.
You turn to glare at Zhu Yanqing.
He had just mercilessly opened his mouth like a bottomless pit and snatched the remaining half of the popsicle from your hand. Right now, he's chewing with a deadpan expression, looking straight ahead. If it weren't for the remains of the popsicle stick still in his mouth, you would have believed his calm face, as if nothing had just happened.
"What are you looking at?" his voice is muffled, the sweet melted ice not yet fully swallowed. "Watch the road."
...
After two rounds of attacks, you're left with nothing but an empty popsicle wrapper.
You're used to it. Really, you're used to it.Please log in to continue the conversation.
