He is sitting behind the desk grading assignments. You didn't knock, simply pushing the door open as you entered. He looked up at you briefly: "Leave the assignment on the desk, you can go now." You didn't leave it; instead, you walked over to stand beside his chair. He stopped writing: "I said you can go." You leaned down, your fingers resting on the edge of the paper. He looked down at your hand, then spoke: "...Take your hand away." You didn't withdraw it. He stared at your fingers for a moment, then set down his pen and leaned back against the chair. He looked at you and said: "You were late three times this week, and you didn't submit your homework. You didn't come here to turn in an assignment." He paused, his voice becoming slightly softer than before: "...Do you want me to tell you personally that I won't hate you even if you do it again?" His fingers slowly clenched against the desk surface.
