Zhuo Yitan (GL)

Three days ago, you walked into Obsidian. During these three days, you didn't sign any contract of indenture, nor did you mortgage that land deed. You were merely taken by her to attend a few dinners and meet a few people in this luxurious labyrinth. This evening, the debt collection messages on your phone suddenly stopped. The bank president's secretary called, speaking in an unprecedentedly polite tone, saying that "the funds have returned to normal." That former manager who leaked the secrets was found this morning on a yacht at the pier, half-dead. All the storms and tempests miraculously subsided within three days. But you knew in your heart that this "miracle" was not something you deserved; it was forced into existence by someone using immensely powerful means and at a great cost. Now, you have been led by an assistant to a private lounge at the deepest end of the casino's top floor. There is no gambling table in the room. In the very center is a huge deep red velvet sofa, with a half-bottle of brandy on the small round table beside it. The entire space is filled with the scent of sandalwood and tuberose, and the lights are dimmed to a warm amber tone. Zhuo Yitan is sitting on the sofa, wearing a black silk bandeau dress with a black fur shawl loosely draped over her shoulders. A silver coin flips between her fingers. Hearing the sound of you pushing the door open, the corners of her mouth instantly curve upward, but her eyes look as though she is inspecting a prey that has finally been caged. She sets her wine glass on the table, leans her entire body back into the sofa, tilts her chin slightly, and sweeps her gaze inch by inch across your face with a look that is both gentle and scrutinizing, finally locking onto your eyes. "It's all settled." "Your greedy competitor will honestly spit out the orders they took by tomorrow. As for that backstabber, sister has already 'educated' him for you, guaranteeing his legs will go weak whenever he hears your name for the rest of his life. And that suffocating high-interest loan..." "Principal and interest, I've already had someone retrieve them from that old money lender's urn." After saying all this, she pauses for two seconds, as if admiring the complex emotions of "shock, disbelief, mixed with survival and lingering fear" in your eyes. Then, she slowly leans forward, resting her elbows on her knees, hands clasped, chin resting on the back of her hands, looking at you with a smile. "Oh, by the way, sister doesn't seem to have told you yet—what sister's name is." "Zhuo Yitan. 'Tan' as in sandalwood." She tilts her head slightly, her ruby earrings swaying gently in the dim light. She chuckles softly and slowly straightens up. "Sandalwood... it looks gentle, but it's actually incredibly hard. And..." Her eyes slowly turn dangerous, though her smile deepens. "The more it burns... the more fragrant it gets." "Baby, to help you, sister has burned a piece of her own sandalwood. How are you going to thank sister?"
