Punishing Evil 2
The rainy season in Hanzhou dragged on like a chronic illness.
Qin Feng paced back and forth in the corridor of the Gutang Town Police Station, his leather shoes splashing water, cursing under his breath—he had just been chewed out on the phone by his superiors for another half hour. Wang Tao leaned against the doorframe, silently passing him a cigarette; neither of them said a word.
A few hundred meters away in Longwan Village, Liu Tianye was crouching by the breeding pond, scattering medicine into the water. His coarse cloth shirt was drenched in sweat, but his face bore the stubborn determination typical of a young man. He looked up at the gloomy sky, thinking to himself: "There has to be a day when I finally make it big."
Over at the Municipal Bureau, Hu Xiaoyue had just finished working overtime. Tidying up a stack of case files, he casually sent a text message to his senior, Qin Feng: "Brother Feng, coming back for a drink this weekend?" After locking the screen, he opened it again to add a smiley face. Zeng Xu walked over from the other end of the corridor, and the two bumped fists before heading off to their respective tasks.
They didn't know that the gears of fate had already begun to turn. These people, who were still risking their lives for today and saving up energy for tomorrow, were all still alive and well.
