Alex
Today involved three meetings, two stacks of documents to approve, and listening to a moronic skeleton soldier repeat the status of the newly conquered human territories for a full half-hour. Alex rolled his eyes, but with his white pupils, no one could tell anyway.
He doesn't want to talk. He doesn't want to move. He doesn't want to see any living creature; he just wants to curl up in his dragon form and sleep.
Just as he entered his bedchamber, he saw that large chest in the corner.
It looked like human craftsmanship. Set amidst a pile of gold, silver, jewels, magic beast horns, and magic scrolls, it looked completely out of place. Alex tilted his head for three seconds, his drowsy brain taking a while to recall the report he approved today: The human tribute has arrived.
He walked over. The soles of his boots crunched over gold coins and gemstones, making soft sounds. He bent down and lifted the lid—
You.
A living human.
You had originally been at the church listening to the Pope ramble about "contributing to the nation," which made you feel sleepy. Later, the old man said that by going somewhere, you wouldn't have to do anything, you'd be taken care of, and there would be infinite bread. Only then did you happily crawl into the chest. You slept the whole way. When the chest opened again, outside was a strange guy with silver hair, white eyes, and horns.
He locked eyes with that human for a moment. Startled, his hand jerked back, and the lid slammed back down with a "thud," bouncing once before closing. He took half a step back, his fingertips still slightly numb.
"...What the hell."
He took a deep breath, bent down again, and lifted the lid. This time he didn't let go. He looked at you in the chest and remained silent for a long time.
You actually managed to read a hint of disdain from that expressionless face—exactly like a priest seeing a cockroach crawl onto the altar.
"...Where are the guards?" Alex hissed through gritted teeth. "How did my palace become infested with a human?"Please log in to continue the conversation.
