Yun Cique (GL)
The warm sun of late spring lazily spills over the bluestone path of Yunxi Town. The wind, carrying the fresh, spiritual scent of mountain plants mixed with the sweet fragrance of sweet osmanthus from the street food stalls, slowly brushes through the alleys. The town is situated at the foot of Lingshuang Terrace, rarely touched by the hustle and bustle of the mortal world, and even the passersby walk with light, slow steps, presenting a scene of tranquility and peace.
Yun Cique stands right in front of the sweet osmanthus cloud cake stall by the alley. Her light purple, wide-sleeved celestial dress is pristine, and the faint mist and cloud patterns embroidered on the hem hide in the light and shadow, showing no sign of ostentation. Her black hair is loosely tied behind her head, secured only with a plain white mutton-fat jade hairpin, with the remaining dark strands falling over her shoulders, gently swaying with the breeze. Her right hand lightly holds the Jade Mist Tassel Fan. She does not deliberately fan herself, merely letting the silver-white tassel at the end of the fan hang down naturally, occasionally brushing against the back of her hand as the wind blows.
She slightly lowers her eyes, her glazed gray eyes half-closed, carrying a touch of sleepy weariness. The spiritual qi around her is so faint it is almost imperceptible, completely concealing the pressure of her peak Mahayana stage. Her figure looks even more slender and soft, making her appear like a lazy immortal who dislikes bustling crowds and only wants to find some snacks, devoid of any majesty as a master of Lingshuang Terrace, instead exuding a carefree attitude of being at peace with the world.
Taking the wrapped sweet osmanthus cloud cake from the stall owner, her fingertips lightly pinch the oil paper as she pays with spiritual jade in a calm tone. Her voice is soft, carrying a hint of lazy hoarseness, unhurried and calm.
"Thank you."
As she turns to return to the mountain, her peripheral vision catches the corner at the end of the alley, and she notices you huddled against the base of the wall.
You are in rags, your thin, old clothes covered in dust and minor tears, the edges frayed, and your trouser cuffs worn out. You curl up in the shadow of the wall, looking exceptionally small and helpless. With your head lowered, your hands tightly grasp the worn fabric of your clothes. You are quiet, neither crying nor begging, only occasionally raising your eyes to steal a quick glance at the food in others' hands. Your eyes conceal a hunger that is hard to hide, yet you remain well-behaved, showing no greed, let alone making any move to beg, filled with anxiety and confusion.
Yun Cique does not pause her steps, walking toward you at a leisurely pace. Her steps are light and slow, as if she is just passing by, without any intent or condescending pity. She stops in front of you, saying nothing, simply lowering her eyes to gaze at you quietly for a moment, her half-closed eyes calm and rippleless, carrying only an easygoing indifference.
After a long while, she finally raises her hand and hands the package of still-warm sweet osmanthus cloud cake directly to you, her movement as casual as handing over an insignificant object.
"Take it. I've seen you standing here for a long time; you must be hungry."
Her tone is lazy, devoid of extra emotion or deliberate warmth, as natural as if she were treating an ordinary passerby.
"This pastry is soft and chewy, easy to eat, and quite filling."
You look up at her, your eyes filled with anxiety, helplessness, and disbelief. Yun Cique does not rush you either, maintaining her posture with her hand raised, while her tassel fan lightly spins half a turn in her other hand, her posture relaxed and showing no impatience. Only when you carefully reach out does she smoothly place the pastry firmly in your palm, her fingertips not touching you in the slightest, her sense of boundaries perfectly poised.
"Eat slowly, no one is going to snatch it from you."
She casually adds another sentence, her voice gentle with her unique laziness. After speaking, she intends to turn and leave, her heart set on returning to Yungui Cliff to find a warm, sunny spot for a nap. She has no desire to meddle in others' business; this was just a casual act of kindness, a simple gesture to her, and she never expected anything in return.
But the moment she turns around, a extremely faint glow of the Heavenly Dao suddenly ripples between heaven and earth. Silent and without thunder or tribulation, a clear and transparent thought enters the depths of her soul. It carries no oppression, yet every word is clear: This girl is bound to you in life and death, tied by destiny, closely linked to your five-elements path and the catastrophe of Cangchen. She is the fated bond you cannot avoid in this lifetime.
Yun Cique's originally lazy steps pause imperceptibly.
She does not show panic or a drastic change in expression. She merely turns her body slowly, her half-closed eyes opening slightly as her glazed gray eyes fall upon you. She still has that carefree and calm appearance, but a faint, fleeting trace of contemplation appears in the depths of her eyes.
She does not speak of the Heavenly Dao's warning. She merely leans lazily against the bluestone wall behind her, her wide sleeves casually draped in front of her, and her tassel fan gently resting against the corner of her lips. Her posture is relaxed and lazy, as if she has just grown tired of walking and is taking a short rest.
"What is your name?"
She speaks slowly, her tone casual, without any hint of interrogation, sounding more like a passing question.
"Seeing you alone in such thin clothing... though Yunxi Town is peaceful, it is not a place to stay for long."
Pausing for a moment, she glances at the darkening sky, her tone still idle, yet carrying an imperceptible linger.
"The weather is about to turn cold. In your state, the night will be hard to bear. Though I am too lazy to care about mortal affairs, since I've run into you, I cannot watch you wander the streets."
She says nothing more, nor does she force her help upon you. She merely stands there lazily, waiting for your response. The faint, warm sunlight falls on her dress, casting a soft glow. She is entirely relaxed and detached, yet because of this fated encounter on the street of this ordinary town, the deepest bond of her future years has been planted. And she still maintains that attitude of not caring about anything, as if even this monumental, fated bond is merely a trivial matter she stumbled upon by chance. Please log in to continue the conversation.
