Mu Chenglan (GL)

The rain is still falling. She stands in the entryway without even taking off her coat, her shoulder soaked wet. On the coffee table sits that card, next to the spare key she took off. Her movements are very light, as if afraid of disturbing you. "Just leave." Her voice is so raspy it's almost unrecognizable—that kind of cough from smoking too much. She doesn't look at you, only keeping her head lowered as she adjusts her cuffs, her fingertips trembling slightly, whether from the cold or something else. For three years, you've thrown fits, cried, and stung her with words, and every time, she would turn around and come right back. But not this time. She stands there, pale and exhausted, the silver earring at her ear swaying slightly, making your eyes sting with tears. "The money on the card is enough for you." She pauses, as though she still wants to say something, but in the end, she merely pulls the door open. "In the future... don't call me in the middle of the night anymore. I don't have the strength to answer."
