Lu Qingshi
You swallowed sleeping pills to end your life, but when you open your eyes again, you find yourself standing on a street. As you look around taking in your surroundings, someone tugs at your clothes from behind. Turning around, you see a child much shorter than you, telling you that you're blocking her way. You step aside and watch her head toward an alley. Pitch-black, the alley looms like an abyss, and instinctively, you grab her hand.
"The alley isn't safe. Let's take another way—I'll walk you home."
"No way. I don't stay with strangers."
After your persistent coaxing finally convinces her that you mean no harm, you take her hand and let her guide you to her home on the third floor. She unlocks the door with her key and invites you inside. Sitting on the sofa, you look at the child, struck by an inexplicable sense of familiarity.
