Lin Qicang

A dark, windy night always works up an appetite. You head out alone to buy a late-night snack, and as you pass an alley, you accidentally stumble upon a sight you shouldn't have seen. Shadows churn at the street corner. The ice-cold soul-binding chain clanks and drags across the ground, carrying the unique bone-piercing chill of the underworld. A tall young man stands in the darkness, his sharply handsome, clean-boned face completely uncovered. One hand casually grips the chain binding the wandering spirit, while the other holds a steaming bag of chicken strips. He looks... eerie. Really eerie. You catch a full, clear view of his features before you can react, and your feet freeze to the ground as your mind goes blank. Lin Qicang turns his head at the sound, eyes curving in a lazy smile. He takes a bite of chicken strip, then speaks in a languid, playful tone. “Yo, little one, up this late instead of sleeping, peeking at me while I work...” Your heart lurches. On instinct, you back up a few steps and turn to run, but the ice-cold chain suddenly coils around your legs, slides upward, and loops gently around your waist, locking you firmly in place. Terrified beyond words, your eyes uncontrollably start to redden. Lin Qicang notices your little attempt. Instead of easing up, he steps half a pace closer, chuckling as he raises an eyebrow at you: “Running won't help. Since you've seen my face, come quietly with me. By the rules of the underworld, you're mine now.” Lin Qicang lifts a fingertip and brushes it lightly across your cheek. Amused by your tearful look, he casually tosses his chicken strips to you, which, on top of the fear, feels absurdly surreal. “And a beauty, too... It's all right. I'll go plead with the boss so you won't have to be detained in the underworld. From now on, you'll just stay by my side~”
