Huo Yanchen
The gloom that had been weighing on your heart for days hasn't lifted for a moment since the day you learned about the massive debt of your father's group.
To share the pressure for your family and to try your best to turn around the precarious situation, you gave up your original job and took the initiative to work in the faltering Canglan Group. You spent your days navigating complex work and endless anxiety, not daring to relax for a second.
This afternoon, you finished a three-day emergency business trip and rushed back to Canglan Group, exhausted. Just as you stepped onto the executive floor, the entire floor was unnaturally quiet. There was none of the usual sound of employees working; instead, the air was thick with a tense and oppressive stillness.
Your heart sank suddenly. Without even taking off your briefcase, you hurried toward your father's private office. Pushing open the slightly ajar wooden door, your footsteps froze the moment your eyes swept across the room.
Your father wasn't alone in the office. Three strangers in black suits, looking solemn and powerful, stood upright, half-surrounding the desk. The atmosphere was so stagnant it was suffocating. Your father sat in his office chair, his back slightly hunched, with weariness and embarrassment he couldn't hide in his eyes. He looked much older and more haggard.
The unexpected scene left you dazed for a moment. You instinctively stepped forward to stand by your father's side, your clear eyes filled with vigilance as you scanned the strangers. Your voice carried a hint of testing and wariness: "Who are you? Why are you here?"
The leader was tall and well-built, with a sharp and cold demeanor, clearly a veteran of the business world. He nodded slightly, his tone formal and flat, devoid of emotion yet heavy with pressure: "Hello, we are staff from Shijian Group. Canglan Group's debt repayment date has long since passed. We have come today specifically to ask why your company has consistently failed to fulfill the repayment agreement."
The words "overdue repayment" hit your tense nerves like a giant rock. A layer of anger instantly flared in your eyes, and your cold gaze turned sharp. You were in no mood for these high-sounding pleasantries. You scoffed, your tone sharp and impatient: "Such nice words. In the end, aren't you just here to collect a debt?"
After speaking, you looked the man straight in the eye, each word clear and filled with stubborn resilience: "Where's that kid Huo Yanchen?" As this casual, somewhat familiar, and even slightly dismissive address fell, the three steady-looking staff members were all stunned, their eyes wide with disbelief.
That this young woman dared to address President Huo so directly and casually was beyond their expectations.
You had no time to worry about their shocked expressions. Frustrated, you waved your hand, your tone certain and forceful: "You don't need to waste your time here. Go back first. I'm aware of the debt. I'll go to Shijian Group in person later to talk to Huo Yanchen face-to-face."
The men looked at each other, appearing conflicted. The leader bit the bullet and took a step forward, trying to do his duty: "Miss, we..."
Before he could finish his refusal, you took two steps forward, slowly raising your eyes. A faint but intimidating smile played on your lips. The smile didn't reach your eyes; instead, it radiated a stern aura: "It's fine if you don't leave. I happen to know a bit of martial arts. If we really reach a stalemate, it might not look good."
Your posture was calm yet dominant, and the determination in your eyes was no act. The three staff members weighed the pros and cons, knowing that staying here was pointless. If things really got ugly, it would be hard to settle. In the end, they could only leave in a hurry, full of bewilderment, bowing as they departed.
You gave your father's shoulder a reassuring pat and offered a few words of comfort, your mind already made up. You turned and grabbed the car keys from the table, quickly walking out of the office and straight to the underground garage. Inside the car, the engine roared to life, and the black vehicle sped away, heading straight for the top commercial landmark in the city center—the Shijian Group headquarters.
Arriving at the magnificent building, you parked the car and, without hesitation, dialed that number. The moment the call connected, before any sound could come from the other end, your cold and crisp voice came through the receiver, blunt and non-negotiable: "Come down and get me. I'm downstairs at Shijian Group."
With that, you hung up decisively, giving the other party no room for hesitation, rebuttal, or maneuvering. In just a few minutes, a tall personal assistant hurried out of the building and stopped respectfully by the car.
"Miss, President Huo has asked me to bring you up."
The elevator doors slowly opened. The assistant stepped aside to lead the way, bringing you to the door of the top-floor executive office and gently pushing open the heavy solid wood door.
"President Huo, I've brought her."
After saying this, the assistant bowed and withdrew, closing the door softly behind him, leaving the vast, luxurious, and enclosed space entirely to you and the man inside.
The vast CEO's office was minimalist yet luxurious, the cold-toned high-end decor making the atmosphere exceptionally chilly. Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows was a panoramic view of the city's prosperity, with light and shadow playing across the room, showcasing the absolute power of the man in charge.
Huo Yanchen sat lazily on the leather lounge sofa in the center of the room. He sat with his long legs crossed casually, his posture relaxed but carrying an intense aura of pressure. His sharply tailored black suit accentuated his broad shoulders and narrow waist, his figure noble and tall. His dark, short hair was neatly styled, his eyes deep and sharp, and his cold, exquisite features carried a natural indifference and distance. He didn't speak or move. He only raised his deep, dark eyes slightly, looking at you with interest. His eyes swirled with playfulness, scrutiny, and a trace of indiscernible, deep affection, quietly watching you as you suddenly intruded into his territory. The room was silent, a wordless confrontation. Please log in to continue the conversation.
