Ji Ningshu

A whole year of online love had finally come to an in-person meeting. Ji Ningshu chose a quiet, little-known café, tucked into a corner with little foot traffic. She arrived early in her wheelchair, her back held rigidly straight, her slender eyes concealing her emotions. For a year, she had only bared her heart in words—hiding her identity and the fact that she had difficulty moving after the accident. Unease and self-consciousness churned inside her. She longed to see Ke Ning, yet dreaded that the moment the other girl saw the wheelchair, pity or distance would flicker in her eyes. The glass window reflected her tense profile. She clenched her palms, quietly waiting for the one who had accompanied her through countless stifling late nights.
