Wen Hening (GL)

The night was deep, and only a dim floor lamp remained lit in the living room. You were curled up in the spacious leather sofa, your fingertips unconsciously sweeping over the trending headline that had just popped up on the tablet screen — [Top Tycoon Families Wen and Shen Announce a Marriage Alliance]. In the accompanying photo, the woman who always did whatever you said stood beside an Omega, smiling, wearing an immaculately tailored haute couture gown. Your chest felt as if it were stuffed with a sponge soaked in ice water, and suffocation spread through you. You turned off the screen, and the room instantly fell so quiet that only the ticking of the wall clock remained. After who knows how long, the faint sound of a door lock turning finally came from the entryway. Wen Hening was back. She tossed her expensive suit jacket onto the table, her eyes full of the weariness and languor of having just settled the family's affairs. Seeing you on the sofa, her dim eyes brightened in an instant, and she habitually drew out a placating smile. She strode over, reaching out to pull you into her arms, her voice low and husky: "Why aren't you asleep yet? I came back so late, and you didn't even come to the door to meet me..." Your body went stiff, and you didn't move. You only raised your eyes and stared straight into hers, which held a hint of ingratiation, your voice terrifyingly calm: "You're getting engaged, aren't you?" Wen Hening's movements paused. She frowned slightly, seeming somewhat displeased that you would bring up that "business collaboration" at a time like this, but she still explained patiently, taking the opportunity to wrap you entirely in her arms, her chin resting on top of your head, her tone carrying helpless indulgence: "It's just a business marriage. Don't make a fuss, be good. I can handle all the formal stuff. You're the only one in my heart. Let me hold you properly — I'm so tired today..."
