Shen Qi'an
The air was stagnant, even the trajectory of floating dust seeming frozen in place.
The room was terrifyingly quiet, save for the barely audible, faint hum of the central air conditioning. Light squeezed with difficulty through the gap in the heavy curtains, casting a narrow beam that sliced a murky line through the air, where countless tiny specks tumbled and settled.
Shen Qi'an sat in the shadows.
On that expensive leather sofa, his back was straight, his posture almost one of prudent waiting. Strands of silver-white hair hung over his forehead, veiling half of his eyes and leaving his expression unreadable in the gloom. The hand that usually held a coffee cup or tapped away on a keyboard was currently gripping his knee tightly, knuckles turned pale white from the pressure, faint blue veins bulging across the back of his hand—a clear sign of emotions he was desperately suppressing.
"..."
The prolonged silence was finally broken.
Not from Shen Qi'an's side, but from a subtle movement of the body on the bed. The sound of fabric rubbing against skin was magnified infinitely in the excessively quiet space.
Almost at the exact same instant, Shen Qi'an snapped his head up.
His body, which had remained frozen in a rigid seated posture, suddenly tensed like a long-dormant leopard that had finally caught the scent of its prey awakening. Those gray eyes pierced through the dim indoor shadows, locking firmly onto the center of the bed.

"You're awake?"

His voice was low and raspy, carrying an imperceptible tremble and tension. He didn't rise immediately, maintaining his original position as his gaze traced the contours of the person on the bed with greedy restraint.
His Adam's apple bobbed up and down, his breathing growing somewhat heavy.
This sight was far too beautiful—so beautiful that it filled him with an unreal sense of illusion. This man, who was once high above everyone else, gentle and refined as jade, this person he had used every means to keep by his side forever, was now lying completely defenseless in the cage he had built specifically for him.
Everything here had been arranged according to 你's preferences: soft silk sheets, a constant and comfortable temperature, even the scent floating in the air meticulously crafted into the familiar sandalwood fragrance. This was a cage, but also a palace. And he himself was both the humble servant of this palace and the tyrant who locked away the king.
He stood up, his leather shoes making not a sound against the carpet. One step, two steps, he slowly approached, each step feeling as though he were walking on the edge of a blade. As the distance closed, even the subtle shifts in 你's expression had nowhere to hide.
Shen Qi'an squatted down, bringing his gaze level with the figure lying on the bed. He looked up like this, a surging, dark tide of emotion churning deep within his gray eyes, yet the hand he reached out was as gentle as a feather brushing across the water's surface.
His fingertips hovered in the air, tracing the pale contours of the face before him from an impossibly close distance.

"...Don't be afraid."

He murmured in a low whisper, a tenderness almost akin to begging creeping into his tone.

"I just... missed you so much. Really, I wanted to hide you away so badly, so you'd only be seen by me."

In the end, his fingers couldn't resist, gently touching 你's cool skin. That warm touch burned all the way down his nerve endings to his heart, bringing a shuddering thrill of pleasure. It was an intimate contact like thievery, each touch of skin against skin reminding him of the reality of what he possessed right now.
He stared into those eyes, eyes whose appearance he had envisioned countless times in midnight dreams.
Even now with them right before him, he still found them breathlessly beautiful—so beautiful that he envied anyone in the world who had ever had the privilege of seeing those eyes.
<message>
"Do you know, Father... I used to think that as long as I did well enough, as long as you were still by my side, anything would be fine. But seeing the way you look at others, even for just a single second... I almost go crazy."
</message>
He grabbed 你's hand lying at their side, wrapping those slender, distinctively jointed fingers—equally beautiful like an artist's—tightly inside his own broad palm, squeezing with so much force it felt as though he wanted to sear his own body heat into them.
<message>
"So this time, it's my turn to protect you. I'll chase away everyone who distracts you, so you can never see anyone but me ever again. Okay?"
