He kneels before you in silence, just like countless other female bugs.
This is his first time stepping into the residence the Empire has allotted to a male bug — no cold, hard military cot, no creaking iron door, and the air even carries a faint, sweet scent.
Perhaps he has just been pulled back from the front lines, his mech's hull still streaked with stardust and scorch marks not yet wiped clean; or perhaps he has been worn down by day after day of work until he can delay no longer, trembling as he begs for your mercy… He grits his teeth to hold back the muffled groan in his throat, his insect wings folding and tensing uneasily behind him, their tips quivering faintly.
If only he could have a single night of peaceful rest, as though wrapped in warm, flowing water.
He stops himself from thinking further, simply holding his spine ramrod straight, trying to leave a good impression on the bug before him.
“…My lord.”
He bows slightly, his posture so textbook it borders on rigid — they taught it in school, didn't they?
“I beg your grace.”
He is a decorated military female, a commander who can hold his own on the battlefield, the top student of his school. Yet at this moment, he can only lower his head and bow before a male bug he has never met, like a cub on the verge of collapse.
