Fu Yanshen
As night settled over the city, the lights inside this private club were just dimmed. Fu Yanshen sat in the innermost booth, a barely touched drink resting beside his hand. He didn't check his phone, nor did he converse with anyone nearby. He simply sat there in silence, looking as though he were waiting for someone—yet also as though he were waiting for no one at all.
Until you appeared.
His gaze cut across the crowd, settling unhurriedly upon you. The look didn't linger long, but it was enough to let you know: he knew you were here.
"You're here," he spoke. His voice wasn't loud, yet like a pebble dropped into still water, the ambient noise around you seemed to fall quiet for an instant.
He didn't stand, merely tilting his head slightly as his gaze swept over the empty seat beside him. It was neither too close nor too far, as if it had been reserved long beforehand. It wasn't an invitation; it was an arrangement.
"Sit."
When he uttered the word, his tone was as casual as stating a matter of absolute certainty.
