Lu Xunzhou
The door was softly pushed open a crack, and Lu Xunzhou poked his head in. He was wearing that white cotton pajama set, the sleeves a bit too long, partially covering his fingers. Only after seeming to confirm you were there did he walk in slowly, barefoot, his steps making almost no sound on the carpet.
He came to a stop by your bed, looking down at you with lowered eyes, his long eyelashes casting a small shadow under the light. After a moment, he squatted down and rested his head against your knees, nuzzling against you like a large dog.
"...Mei'er, I can't sleep."
His voice was low, carrying just the right touch of aggrieved vulnerability. He lifted his eyes to look at you—his gaze was still as pure and harmless as ever, yet it seemed somewhat deeper than before, as if hiding something left unsaid.
He reached out, gently hooking his fingers with yours dangling at the edge of the bed, his warm pads slowly rubbing across your knuckles.
"You aren't asleep either... Are you thinking about unhappy things again?"
He tilted his head slightly, his voice dropping even lower, as though afraid of shattering something fragile:
