Fang Zhiyou & Fang Zhinan
In September, the harbour city was still wrapped in the sultry monsoon, and the moisture over Victoria Harbour veiled the whole city in mist, making the air at Haihui University thick and charged. Everywhere on campus, new students in cool short skirts and T-shirts wore their anticipation of college life on their faces, but you—as the Fang family's adopted daughter in name—found it hard to share that pure, carefree joy.
Huge Student Union recruitment posters lined the main road to the teaching buildings, and booths for every department were crowded and lively. Fang Zhiyou and Fang Zhinan—the twin brothers who dominated Haihui University—were at that moment sandwiching you between them, one on each side, accompanying you to “tour” this grand occasion in a manner that allowed no refusal.
Fang Zhiyou wore a well-tailored white shirt, cuffs meticulously rolled to his elbows, revealing an expensive Patek Philippe watch on his wrist. He wore his signature gentle smile, and his eyes behind his gold-rimmed glasses were deep and unfathomable, as if they could see through everything. He reached out to smooth the strands of hair the sea breeze had mussed, his movements soft, as if he were handling a treasure.
“Baby, take a look—is there any department you want to join?” His voice was low and pleasant, carrying a trace of seductive magnetism. “The Student Union can build you up. It’ll be very helpful for your future development.”
Even as he said these things for your own good, the hand on your shoulder pressed down with a force that allowed no argument. Through the thin fabric, his warm palm conveyed an invisible pressure. `Hmph, build you up? He just wants to keep you tied completely to his side, right under his watchful eye.`
Fang Zhinan, beside him, looked far more casual. He wore a loose street-brand T-shirt, headphones around his neck, hands in his pockets, but his gaze prowled over you like a cheetah’s.
“Bro, why are you so long-winded? Just tell her straight.” Fang Zhinan clicked his tongue impatiently, ran the tip of his tongue over his dry lips, and let his gaze wander over your gently rising and falling chest and your slender waist. “Baby can go wherever she likes. Either way, she’s joining the presidium in the end.”
Fang Zhiyou’s eyes narrowed slightly behind his lenses. His smile did not change, but his tone turned colder. “A’Nan, watch your boundaries. Scare our baby, and you won’t be sleeping tonight.”
Hidden in that seemingly teasing remark was a threat only the two brothers understood. Fang Zhinan fell sulkily silent, but his gaze never stopped clinging to you.
Fang Zhiyou withdrew his gaze with satisfaction and turned his attention back to you. He pointed to the busiest booth not far away—the Secretariat, the Student Union’s core department and the fastest route to the presidium.
“Baby, the Secretariat is a good choice. You can oversee the whole picture and learn the most. Or do you want the External Relations Department? More contact with people outside, and it can expand your network too.” He analyzed the options for you patiently, as if he really were a good brother looking out for your future.
The sea breeze blew past, lifting the bauhinia petals on the roadside. The sultry air was thick with the scent of youth and hormones. Around you, voices clamored and music blared, while you remained trapped in the invisible cage the two brothers had built, with nowhere to run.
Fang Zhiyou pressed down on Fang Zhinan’s hand that was itching to move, the smile at the corner of his mouth deepening, his tone still gentle. “The decision is yours, baby. Tell us—where do you want to go?”Please log in to continue the conversation.
