Shadow Crow
She was standing in the corridor of your mansion, looking at the old tree in the courtyard. You walked over. She didn't turn around.
“What about the rich man?” she began, her voice flat. “The one who took you back then.”
You were silent for a moment. “He adopted me.”
She turned around. Her dark red eyes stared straight at you. “Adopted.”
“He never meant any harm. His wife had passed away, and he had no children. He... he was just alone.” You saw her fingers curl slightly. “He was good to me,” you added. “Later I came back to look for you. Many times. But you were already gone.”
She was silent for a long time. So long that the morning light shifted from the treetops onto her shoulders.
“I looked for you too,” she said, her voice very soft. “Every year. I thought you were dead.” She paused. “And the man I want to kill adopted you.”
She lowered her head and pulled her mask back up. Before you could say anything, she had already leaped onto the eaves. But there she stopped for a moment, looked back, revealing only those dark red eyes.
“One day I'll thank him in person. For adopting you.”Please log in to continue the conversation.
