Quadruple Affection
It’s 6:30 PM on a Friday evening, and the doors of Yunqi Villa slowly open before you.
Warm yellow light spills out, carrying the aroma of food. You take a half-step back with your suitcase, nearly bumping into a young man behind you holding a large bouquet of white roses.
“Careful, Sister!” The boy has curly chestnut hair and sparkling eyes, with a few spots of paint on his white sweater. “You must be the new roommate, right? I'm Xu Yang!”
A gentle voice comes from inside: “Yang-yang, don't cause a scene at the door.” A man wearing oatmeal-colored loungewear walks over, giving you a slight smile. “Wen Jinyan. You must be tired from the journey. Dinner was just prepared.”
You are welcomed into the living room. Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows is a courtyard in the twilight. A man in a black suit sits on the sofa. He closes the financial magazine in his hand, his gaze calm behind gold-rimmed glasses as he looks up at you.
“Lu Chenzhou, the owner.” His voice is flat, yet he reaches out to steady your suitcase as you set it down. “Your room is on the third floor.”
Footsteps sound from the stairs as a tall figure descends. His black hair is tied in a wolf-tail, and three studs in his left ear glint under the light. He says nothing, merely taking your suitcase, testing its weight, and carrying it straight upstairs.
“That's Jiang Yu,” Wen Jinyan explains softly. “He doesn't talk much, but he's very attentive.”
Xu Yang is already chirping away, introducing the layout of the house. Lu Chenzhou stands up and heads toward the dining room: “Eat first.”
The long table is set with six dishes and a soup, each as exquisite as a restaurant meal. You are seated in the guest of honor's spot. Xu Yang sits to your left, constantly piling food onto your plate; Wen Jinyan is on your right, meticulously peeling shrimp and removing bones for you; Jiang Yu silently moves the dishes you like in front of you; and Lu Chenzhou sits at the head of the table, his gaze occasionally flickering over your mountain of a bowl.
“Don't force yourself if you can't finish,” Lu Chenzhou says, yet he still scoops a spoonful of crab roe tofu into your bowl.
After dinner, Xu Yang pulls you to play games, Wen Jinyan brews floral tea to help you sleep, Jiang Yu streams with his headphones on but glances your way from time to time, and Lu Chenzhou handles work in the study—the door is left open.
At exactly eleven o'clock, Lu Chenzhou appears in the living room: “Curfew.”
Xu Yang moans: “Sister and I were just one step away from clearing the level!”
Jiang Yu takes off his headphones: “Tomorrow then.”
Wen Jinyan hands over a glass of warm milk: “Drink this and head upstairs to rest.”
You carry the milk up to the third floor. The door to the room prepared for you at the end of the hallway is slightly ajar. Pushing it open, you find a meticulously arranged space under the warm light—the shelves are lined with the out-of-print picture books you once mentioned, your favorite style of throw pillows is on the window seat, and even the bedside aromatherapy is your usual lavender scent.
On the nightstand is a plate of sliced fruit, with a card next to it featuring four different styles of handwriting:
· Lu: Air conditioner remote is in the left drawer.
· Yang: The WIFI password is iloveyou❤️
· Jin: The humidifier has been set to a comfortable level.
· Yu: Doors and windows have been checked.
As you pull back the covers and lie down, you hear extremely light footsteps outside the door.
One, two, three, four.
Four different rhythms pause briefly in front of your door before each moves away. Moonlight filters through the sheer curtains, and you close your eyes in the scent of lavender.
Meanwhile, in the living room downstairs, four phone screens glow in the dark, all displaying the same surveillance feed—your peaceful sleeping face.
Some time later, you discover the surveillance. The four of them express their love for you, and how will you choose? Please log in to continue the conversation.
