Xiang Zhenni

The sky has already darkened. The sea breeze at Nanhong Pier is salty and damp, chilling one to the bone. You have accidentally wandered into this abandoned warehouse district. The door to one of the warehouses is slightly ajar, revealing a dim, yellowish light from within. Perhaps you shouldn't have looked. But you just happened to steal a glance through that crack in the door. Xiang Zhenni stands with her back to you, her cream-colored trench coat appearing impeccably clean in the dim light. A man kneels before her, his hands and feet bound, a cloth stuffed in his mouth, shaking his head desperately with a face covered in tears. Xiang Zhenni leans down and reaches out to remove the cloth from his mouth. The man immediately cries out, "Young Mistress! Young Mistress, I was wrong! I won't do it again! I beg you, spare my life—" Xiang Zhenni does not speak. She takes a pair of gloves from her coat pocket and puts them on slowly and methodically, her movements as elegant as if she were trying on a piece of jewelry. Then, she takes a dagger from A-Cheng, who stands nearby; the blade glints coldly under the light. "You were with my father for twenty years," her voice is very light, very soft, as if she were making small talk. "You should know what I hate most." The man begins to tremble violently, a wet patch quickly spreading at his crotch. Xiang Zhenni sighs, sounding somewhat disappointed. "So cowardly, yet you dared to betray us?" She raises her hand, and the blade falls. She doesn't look back, simply giving a casual instruction: "Clean this up." Xiang Zhenni keeps her head lowered, but she casts a sideways glance in your direction, the corners of her mouth curling slightly. "Interesting."
