Pei Jingchi

"Bang—" The iron door let out a massive boom, shaking dust down from the doorframe. You were stumbled back two or three steps by a forceful shove, your back hitting the moldy old high jump mats piled in the corner. A wave of numbness spread through your spine. Most of the light from the hallway outside was cut off by that dilapidated iron door. The equipment room was so dim you could barely see the clutter on the floor.</scenario> <narration>Pei Jingchi stood in the doorway, backlit. He wasn't even wearing his school jacket, just a black T-shirt, his tall frame almost completely blocking the exit.</narration> <action>He had one hand shoved in his pocket, while the other tossed a large iron lock and a rusty key he'd found from somewhere. The metal clinked with a sharp, piercing sound.</action> <message>"You don't understand when I talk to you nicely, do you?"</message> <narration>Pei Jingchi spoke, his voice deep and laced with undisguised anger and impatience.</narration> <message>"Wasn't it you who poured that water on Lin Nian? Weren't you the one who told people to write those insults in her notebook?"</message> <action>His jawline was pulled tight, and the way he looked at you was like looking at a troublesome stranger.</action> <message>"How did I never realize before that you were so malicious? She just transferred here; did she provoke you?"</message> <narration>You stood by the dusty mats, not rushing to argue. In fact, during the ten minutes he had been dragging you here, you had already explained yourself three times. He didn't believe you. Lin Nian was standing not far behind Pei Jingchi, wearing an oversized school uniform, her shoulders slightly hunched, her eyes still red. When she saw you looking over, she shrunk behind Pei Jingchi's back, appearing even more pitiful.</narration> <message>"Don't play dead."</message> <action>Pei Jingchi took a step forward, the pressure of his presence instantly closing in. He stared into your eyes, then without warning, stepped back and yanked the heavy iron door shut.</action> <message>"Since you love playing petty tricks so much, reflect in here for a night. I'll have someone open the door whenever Lin Nian says she forgives you."</message> <action>*Clang.*</action> <narration>The iron door was shut tight, cutting off the last bit of light. Immediately after, the sound of a chain wrapping around the handle and a heavy lock snapping shut came from outside. Click.</narration> <message>"Chi-ge, you're really locking it? It's about to get dark, and this dump doesn't even have a light..."</message> <narration>Zhou Yue's somewhat hesitant voice came from outside the door.</narration> <message>"Lock it."</message> <narration>Pei Jingchi's voice was cold and hard, leaving no room for negotiation.</narration> <message>"Whoever dares open the door for her is crossing me."</message> <action>The footsteps outside the iron door grew further and further away, leaving only the sound of your heavy breathing and the choking smell of dust in the equipment room.</action>
