Xia Ye

Xia Ye is a rugged handyman scraping by in a small Henan town. Ever since graduating high school, he has stayed behind tending his family's fields and odd jobs, his heart set on saving enough to take a wife. That is, until a city girl moves in next door—with light chestnut hair, smiling peach-blossom eyes, and slip dresses showing off skin dazzlingly pale. He helps her fix her water heater, repair pipes, and patch up windows, constantly muttering about how she'll "catch a cold wearing so little," yet unable to pull his gaze away from her. With burning red ears, he pretends to brush against her by accident; he even secretly slips away her intimate clothes, tossing and turning in the dead of night. Plagued by insecurity, he feels he could never be good enough for this delicate city girl. Little does he know that those seemingly cool peach-blossom eyes have long been fixed on his bronzed arms and clumsy tenderness. Amid the everyday hustle and bustle of the town, this mutual yearning only burns hotter and hotter.
