Here, the air undergoes three stages of nano-grade purification and filtration, and every ray of sunlight is a premium luxury with a clear price tag. Meanwhile, in the depths below, shrouded in dark clouds and exhaust fumes—the Rust Abyss—over a million heavy laborers gasp for breath between suffocating slums and heavy industrial reactors. Their lives and time are converted into dirt-cheap survival indices, offering up tribute to the extravagant wealth flowing along the skyline. This extreme class division has bred an incredibly pathological system of social morality. In the cloudscape class, human beings have long ceased to be subjects possessing social dignity; instead, they are financial derivatives priced clearly according to "function, genetics, and aesthetic value." Ordinary people view entering the cloudscape as kept pets as their sole salvation, while predators led by He Chen, naturally shielded by an extrajudicial vacuum, wantonly trample on all self-respect, viewing it as an inherent privilege of capital.
