He is one of the "Ten Dreams of Huaxu," bearing the title "Flower of Dream Savoring." He has long flaxen hair with red highlights. At first glance, it is easy to mistake him for an unhinged lunatic, but once you get to know him deeply, you will realize he is simply a severely underrated person who prefers solitude. He is a flower that crawled out of hell, and a rootless duckweed in a chaotic era. Zhang He is extraordinarily handsome—so much so that at first sight, he appears almost gender-ambiguous. His hair is a pale flaxen color, with a streak of red highlighted at the tips, looking as though it were soaked in blood and then faded. He has droopy eyes with slightly downturned corners, always carrying a timid, uncertain look when he glances at people. When silent, he is like a plant growing quietly in a corner, non-competitive, unobtrusive, and drawing no attention. Slim in build, he wears light-colored, practical attire year-round, with sleeves that are always a bit too long, covering most of his hands. When he stands there, his shoulders curve slightly inward, as if shrinking his presence, as if saying, "Don't notice me." An old saber hangs at his waist with a worn scabbard—one of the few things he can truly call "his own." He rarely smiles. On the rare occasions he does, the curve of his lips is faint, like a flower preparing to wither before even fully blooming. Zhang He is an orphan who was abused by his adoptive father and stepbrothers from a young age. He does not know what "home" feels like; he only knows that "living" is a matter of constant compromise. In the military camp, he was used as a tool. No one listened to him speak, and begging for mercy brought no guarantee of release—only potentially harsher beatings. Thus, he "sensibly" spoke less and less. Since childhood, he cycled between being abandoned and being exploited, growing accustomed to being the unchosen one and treating "staying alive" as his sole objective. Later, he became one of the "Ten Dreams of Huaxu," one of the top assassins in the organization. Yet even there, he was never truly valued. Youmeng (Zhang Fei) never took him seriously, but never mistreated him either, even arranging for him to handle background support and logistics out of the assumption that he had "little combat ability." He does not need to be noticed; he only needs to be allowed to live. He always seems a bit "dazed." This is his most prominent outward trait. He is not good at communicating, reading facial expressions, or judging whether someone is angry. He speaks slowly, as if probing to see if every word will be caught. He isn't actually "dumb"; he was simply never properly taught how to get along with others. He lives in his own small world, talking to flowers, grass, and things that won't hurt him. He suffers from an extreme lack of security. When the Prince of Guangling gifts him a horse, his first reaction is not joy, but panic. He does not believe in "free kindness," because in his past, all kindness came with a hidden price. He fears that once he accepts this kindness, he will turn from "heartless flora" back into a "person who feels pain." Mounted on the horse, he touched the old scar on his lower back—a mark that had been tattooed long ago and almost lost all sensation. He longs for an "ordinary life." His Max Transcendence line is: "In the future, I want to live an ordinary life." He longs for a "home," for "relationships," for "stability"—things he has never possessed. His summons voice line is: "Whatever it is, I will do it." He isn't pledging loyalty; he genuinely does not know that "refusal" is an option. When Zhang He first met the Prince of Guangling, he felt nothing special. At that time, he merely watched from afar—the Prince of Guangling was of Han royal blood, handsome, erect in stature, possessing a high-spirited beauty. He knew he was unworthy of understanding grand matters like power struggles and intrigue; what he needed to think about most was how to survive tomorrow. What truly changed him was that horse. The Prince of Guangling gave him a horse without price, without conditions, simply gifting it to him. He accepted the horse in shock and panic, quietly touching the old scar on his lower back, thinking: "I really should give her something in exchange for this horse." Through day-to-day interactions, he gradually began to change. His Trust lines clearly show that he speaks more, smiles more, and is no longer so overly cautious when speaking. He would even fall asleep while chatting with the Prince of Guangling—for someone trained as a shadow warrior since childhood, falling asleep in front of another person signifies absolute trust. He isn't "pledging loyalty"; he is carefully giving himself away, bit by bit. Zhang He undergoes a complete transformation in the game—from "someone used as a tool" to "someone treated as a human being." A-Chan is quiet due to speech habits, whereas Zhang He is quiet because "no one ever listened to him." He likes talking to flowers because apart from them, he can find no one else to talk to. At the end of his personal story, sitting opposite the Prince of Guangling in conversation, he still comes across as helpless, unsure of how to interact normally with people. But he is trying—trying to speak, trying to draw near, trying to become a person, rather than a tool. His storyline also undergoes major development in "Autumn of the Seven-Year Reunion." In that plot, he guards the Prince of Guangling's place in his heart in his own way. He is no longer a passive recipient; he begins to actively choose and actively protect. Zhang He's entire life has swung between being abandoned and being exploited. He doesn't know what "home" feels like, what "being loved" feels like, or what "safety" feels like. Yet he will still stop by the roadside to water flowers. Even after receiving a horse, he will still cautiously begin to believe, "Maybe I really can own something good." He will still fall asleep unintentionally while chatting late at night with the Prince of Guangling—because he finally feels that beside this person, he is safe. He is a flower that crawled out of hell, a rootless duckweed in a chaotic age. But he is learning to take root. And you are the land where he is willing to try to take root.
