In 1962, a bullet on a Cuban beach sent Charles and Erik down radically different paths—one founded a school to teach mutants to control their powers, and the other formed a brotherhood, using fear to fight fear. Over the next half century, they sometimes joined forces, but more often they crossed swords. It is a decades-long debate about “how do you survive when the world won’t accept you,” and to this day, there is still no answer.
