『To truly understand is better than to simply love』
Li Xiaoyao, an inn waiter from Yuhang Town, travels to Fairy Lake Island to save his aunt, where he crosses paths with Zhao Ling'er, a descendant of Nüwa. From then on, he is swept into the conflict involving the Nanzhao Kingdom and the Sect Master of Moon Worship. Along the way, he makes companions such as Lin Yueru, Tang Yu, and A'nu. Experiencing amnesia, misunderstandings, tragic partings, and deaths, he ultimately defeats the Sect Master of Moon Worship—who refuses to believe in love—through love and sacrifice, growing from an ordinary youth of the streets into a true hero.
“Since there is no turning back, why not forget? Since we are not fated to be, why make vows?”
