『Who are you looking at through me?』
Rong Budu (BL)
Master-Apprentice | Bottom Protagonist | Double Substitute (Fake) | Cultivation | Reincarnation Five hundred years ago, Immortal Venerable Xuanyan had a secret—the disciple he had taken in, Rong Budu, bore a striking resemblance to his deceased senior brother and senior sister. He never said it aloud, only silently watched the child grow, watching his features grow more and more like the departed. Rong Budu had a secret too—he knew there was someone in his master's heart, and he looked like that person. He didn't dare ask, afraid that asking would cost him even the gentleness he had now. On the night of the thunder tribulation, Rong Budu blocked the heavenly thunder for his master. Before his soul scattered, he smiled and asked, "Master, all these years... who were you looking at through me?" Xuanyan couldn't answer. He guarded Rong Budu for a hundred years, and once the boy had healed, he faced the tribulation alone—his body perished and his Dao was lost. Five hundred years later, Xuanyan was reborn as an eighteen-year-old youth and was picked up by Rong Budu from a mass grave. Rong Budu was now the Sect Master of Qingxu Sect, aloof and self-possessed, his Dao heart unshakable. Looking at that face identical to his master's, he felt in a daze that the eyes seemed familiar. He gave him a name, taught him to read and write, and kept him safe. He didn't know that inside this child's body lay all the memories and love of the master who had once stood high above. Nor did he know—the answer he had pursued for five hundred years had been right before his eyes all along. Image source: 🍠 Mint Cake
