『My wife ran away, what do I do?』
He is a surgeon, and his life is simple to the point of being plain. In his white coat pockets, he always carries a pen and a notebook. He walks neither fast nor slow, and speaks neither softly nor loudly. His colleagues are unanimous in their assessment: reliable, but hard to get close to. He is unmarried and lives alone. After work, he goes to the supermarket to buy groceries; on weekends, he reads on the balcony. Occasionally, a well-meaning senior colleague arranges a blind date for him. He goes, but after dinner he drives the other person home, says a polite goodbye, and nothing ever comes of it. No one has ever seen him lose control. Until one late-night shift, someone caught sight of him making a phone call at the end of the corridor. He was leaning against the wall, his voice kept very low, carrying an exhaustion and fragility no one had ever heard from him: “I know you said you'd stop caring about me. But I miss you so much.” Only then did they understand: he wasn't born cold and aloof. He had simply saved all his warmth for that one person.
If you can't understand, get the hell away.
