The Mystic Nine II
In Changsha, there are nine prominent families known throughout the martial world as the Mystic Nine. Almost all antiques unearthed in Changsha must pass through their hands. At the head of the Mystic Nine is Zhang Qishan, the Defense Commander of Changsha, affectionately known as Lord Fo Ye. When a mysterious "ghost train" filled with corpses rolls into Changsha Station, Zhang Qishan is tasked with investigating. Following the clues to a mine outside the city, he discovers an ancient tomb hidden deep within, which the Japanese have long been secretly eyeing to unravel its secrets. To solve the mystery of the mine, Zhang Qishan recruits Eighth Master Qi Tiemui and seeks help from Er Yuehong of the Upper Three Gates. Er Yuehong was originally a renowned opera star and a master tomb raider, but he had long retired from tomb raiding due to his wife Ya Tou's grave illness. To save Ya Tou, Zhang Qishan travels all the way to the Crescent Hotel in Beiping to seek rare medicine, going so far as to light three sky lanterns in succession to win the auction. There, he also meets Yin Xinyue, the young mistress of the Crescent Hotel, and feelings gradually bloom between them. Unfortunately, no medicine can save Ya Tou, and she eventually passes away. Overcome with grief, Er Yuehong discovers that his ancestors shared a deep connection with the ancient mine tomb. Setting aside his sorrow, he descends into the mine with Zhang Qishan and Qi Tiemui to explore the tomb. Inside, the group faces treacherous traps and uncanny illusions, gradually uncovering the secret of the Meteorite Copper while exposing the Japanese plot to use it to bring ruin to the people of Changsha. The story weaves together the feuds among the families of the Mystic Nine, underground tomb explorations, and righteousness for the nation. As war looms near, the members of the Mystic Nine put aside their personal grievances to unite in defending Changsha against foreign enemies.
